I believe that your right to choose a dentist is an important freedom. We work closely with your referring dentist, but a referral by a dentist is not required. We welcome referrals from patients and friends of our practice.

Dr. David Summerford was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, AL. He attended Northridge High School where he graduated as a valedictorian and lettered in baseball. He then attended the University of Alabama where he received a degree in biology. After college, Dr. Summerford earned a master’s degree in oral biology from UAB, where he did extensive research focusing on bone mineralization and bone development. Dr. Summerford then attended the UAB School of Dentistry. While in dental school, he served in a leadership role by representing his class in the student government. Following dental school, Dr. Summerford attended Saint Louis University for his periodontal residency. In residency, Dr. Summerford learned cutting edge techniques for implant placement, gum surgery, bone regeneration and periodontal surgery.

Dr. Summerford values family, honesty, faith and community. David has always believed in following the Golden Rule. He thinks that this standard should be consistently applied to patient care as well as being followed in his daily life. Striving to help others is something about which he is passionate and he plans to incorporate this goal into his practice.

Dr. Summerford is married to his wife, Amanda Baker Summerford. Amanda is originally from Huntsville and attended Grissom High School. In August 2017, she graduated from Nurse Practitioner School at UAB. Currently, Amanda is a nurse practitioner at the Cardiology Group at Huntsville Hospital.

David has always enjoyed being outdoors, whether he is playing sports, jogging or relaxing with friends. David and Amanda have one dog, a pug named Pumba. Pumba is 12 years old, but still acts like a puppy.
